The vegetables were just part of a macrobiotic plate which included a steamed vegetable medley of mushrooms, onions, shredded cabbage, kale, spinach, scallions, ginger, basil, daikon radish and arame. The radish helps very much with detoxification and the seaweed adds precious nutrients. The vegetables would have been served over a brown rice and green lentil dish. So, he and the kids did eat the lentils and rice with sesame oil and soy sauce and I think he gave them some fruit, so all is well that ends well, especially for me. But, I would have to say, it is not all that macrobiotic if you don't eat the seaweed and vegetables.
Tonight, I made two sauces to have with salad or the leftover steamed vegetables. One was our typical sauce of lots of juicy fresh ginger, garlic, scallions, a touch of soy sauce, peanut butter and water, blended well. The other was a carrot ginger sauce made of well, mostly just carrots and ginger. I did add garlic, a little sherry vinegar, and a splash of water. So, the kids ate salad and raw vegetables with the two sauces; I ate the leftover steamed vegetable plate; we had to make a brand new lentil dish, red this time and we have some left for tomorrow...
