Lunch Along the River

During playground swimming, I always bring my gigantic salad to my special rock, despite Sherwood's enthusiastic security guard, way too diligent for my taste. So, over the weekend, I let my own campers actually visit my spot where they climbed on rocks and, well, actually, diminished the peace a little. I just couldn't relax with my salad while slippery rocks and flailing children were involved. Then, on Monday, Larry ate his salad and red lentils with me there with no kids...we had not had a meal alone in months. Today, I am looking forward to my system of peaceful lunch alone after the kids have been fed and gone back to their activities.
Pictured above is my fajita salad of squash, onions, peppers, and spinach all fresh from the farmer's market. The kids ate it with black beans on an organic corn tortilla but I just went for the vegetables doused in Cholula next to my regular salad. I am being aggressively ushered out the door by a demanding four year old wanting to get to camp...
